PAN 9216: The Consumer’s First Choice Red Speckled Bean

Nico Barnard, Pannar's agronomist in the central Highveld shares this promising planting of PAN 9216 in the Harrismith area.

Dry bean producers are specialists and a relatively small number of producers are responsible for the largest part of this grain’s delivery.

Pannar is at the forefront of cultivar development and offers a cultivar package for each production area, with exceptional yield performance and stability.

PAN 9216 performs very well in statistical and strip trials. Its agronomic traits include an indeterminate growth habit, excellent standability and large seeds. Good bean quality attributes and superior cooking characteristics make this variety the consumers' first choice in sugar bean varieties. PAN 9216 is usually ready to harvest about seven to ten days earlier than the other cultivars, with the advantage of delivering good quality beans to the market earlier. The unique red flower makes it recognisable anywhere in the world. Its general disease tolerance includes Rust, Angular Leaf Spot, root rots and BCMV tolerance.
