Pannar Ermelo Farmer’s Day

Our recent Farmer's Day in Ermelo was a great day out in the field, filled with practical conversations and valuable take-home insights for local farmers. Hosted at Sam Nkosi's De Goedehoop Farm on 19 March 2026, the day focused on real-world decision-making and risk management in maize production. 

Kerry Rowlands, senior agronomist at Pannar, shared great guidance on choosing the right mix of cultivars and how hybrid maturity can help spread risk and protect yield potential. Farmers also heard from Wayne Sanders of Corteva Agriscience, who unpacked the importance of good stewardship and integrated pest management, highlighting how responsible use of technology supports both today's crops and future innovation. Johan Janse van Rensburg rounded the programme off with insights into modern seed treatment technologies and why protecting seed from the start is key to strong crop establishment.

Days like these are all about useful learning, open discussion and sharing experience, and the Ermelo event delivered on all fronts. Thanks to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a worthwhile day in the field.
