Herman and Hernich Fouche from Rysmierbult, west of Carletonville, shared these beautiful photos with Pieter Geldenhuys, Pannar representative in Ventersdorp. Herman and Hernich use the white maize hybrid PAN 5285 as their main planting under dryland and the yellow hybrid, PAN 3R-724BR under irrigation.
PAN 5285 was planted at a plant population of 39 500 per hectare. The photos show how prolific PAN 5285 is, even at a high plant populations. PAN 5285 maintains stable performance over seasons and is widely adapted, especially on soils with a clay content of >10% in the topsoil.
PAN 3R-724BR is a stalwart under irrigation. It is the quickest hybrid in the Pannar range and produces an attractive grain type that dries down quickly. It is a leading hybrid under irrigation and currently the best choice on the market for irrigation. The PAN 3R-724BR platform is also a very good choice for the high-potential dryland production regions. It has the typical ultra early plant type with an upright leaf growth habit that can be planted at high plant populations and still maintains excellent standability.
