Follow-up Visit and Donation of Science Lab Equipment to Bergville School7 September 2017

Following PANNAR SEED’s donation of science laboratory equipment to Amangwane High School in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal in January 2016, the company paid the school a follow-up visit last week to make further donations.

Upon reading of Amangwane High School’s matric pass rate success and Principal Nhlanhla Dube’s inspiring commitment to his learners in the face of tough under-resourcing, Rikus Kloppers, the senior crop services manager at PANNAR SEED and his colleagues in Greytown donated stock from their biotechnology, analytical and quality laboratories in January 2016. Since then relocations among the research team resulted in more stock becoming available, included glassware and filing equipment. Toinette van Rooyen (Research Operations Lead), Christin Hunter (Communications Manager) and Gavin Robinson (Sales Representative in the Winterton area) visited Amangwane High School to drop off the items last Thursday.

“Visiting the school was such a happy and humbling experience – it’s clear that they do their utmost best with the little they have. The science laboratory is immaculately neat and clean, items from our previous donation carefully stowed away.  It’s such a pleasure to give when you realise that your gifts are so appreciated and cared for. I hope to come back soon with my colleagues to teach the learners about the safe handling of chemicals and all the exciting career prospects in science and agriculture,” said Van Rooyen who was visiting the school for the first time.

“The learners were an absolute delight, they were all well-presented and polite and excited. The Consumer Studies class kindly invited us to tea and to taste their delicious baking prac. cupcakes. A visit to the vegetable garden was equally uplifting, neat rows of spinach and onions will soon be ready for the picking. Robinson promised to supply seedlings and fertiliser in the coming weeks.

We’d like to thank Principal Dube for welcoming us back and commend him and the entire Amangwane High School staff once again on all they are doing to give their learners the best chance at a productive and fulfilling future. We look forward to seeing you again soon,” said Hunter.
